Summer 2013

Spring and summer have been very busy at Geo-Marine Technology!  Here are just a few of the projects we’ve been working on lately:

  • Chile – Geo-Marine Technology provided offshore support and survey reporting for port upgrade projects in Flamenco and Obispito Bays, Chile.  Work was done under contract from Williamson & Associates and included sidescan sonar, subbottom profiler, and seismic data acquisition to investigate the area’s bathymetry, structural features, and potential hazards.
  • Canada – Geo-Marine Technology’s Vice President Beau Pallister has been dispatched to Prince Rupert, British Columbia to act as client representative for WorleyParsons Canada Services Ltd. on the Pacific Northwest LNG Project.  GMT also worked with Fugro Pelagos, Inc. to provide data analysis and survey reporting for the inshore portion of the geophysical survey on this project.
  • Panama – Geo-Marine Technology assisted Fugro Pelagos, Inc. to analyze and report on geophysical data from a port upgrade project near Colon, Panama.  Sidescan sonar, subbottom profiler, and magnetometer data were all analyzed to determine depth to bedrock and possible seabed obstructions.
  • Texas – Geoscientists at GMT’s Missoula, Montana headquarters provided data consultation and survey reporting services for Fugro Pelagos, Inc in their geophysical survey of the Matagorda Bay shipping channel.  Magnetometer data was analyzed alongside Chirp and Pipeliner subbottom profilers to map subsurface geologic strata and determine the location and depth of the channel’s many buried pipelines.
  • Italy – GMT geoscientist Spencer Paddock has been dispatched to Italy to assist Sub-Seatech in surveying proposed landing sites for the world’s longest subsea power cable.  In addition, he’s been handling acquisition and quality control of sidescan sonar and subbottom profiler data while learning EIVA NaviPac software and serving as English-Italian translator onboard the survey vessel.
